Wow! I might be the world’s worst blogger. I did a preview blog and then nothing. I have all these ideas in my head but then fail to get the blog out. I’m so sorry to my three faithful readers. Thanks for your patience.
Well I can’t review everything that happened in the last month so let’s hit some of the highlights.
St. Pete- Will Power wins the pole but then appeared to have a concussion and doesn’t make the race. Thankfully he did not have a concussion but an inner ear infection. IndyCar received a lot of criticism about pulling Power when he wasn’t actually concussed but of course it was the right decision. Anyone who saw Power after qualifying knew he was in no shape to drive. No brainer in my book.
Juan Pablo Montoya wins the race. Oh crap! Exact repeat of 2015. I was really hoping for a different outcome.
Phoenix- Helio Castroneves wins the pole. Scott Dixon wins the race. I listened to this race on the radio while driving home from our Florida vacation. What sticks in my mind is that it was quite odd that both Helio and Montoya had flat front right tires. The second thing was the yellow at the end of the race. What I recall from the radio broadcast was that it was explained right away that the caution was because Rossi hit the wall and not due to debris from Hunter-Reays car. I don’t feel cheated by the race finishing under yellow. It was Scott Dixon’s race. He was going to win if it was green or yellow. Don’t even get me started on GWC. I’m against them.
What stood out the most in both races was that the Chevy’s are the better car and I hate that. I wish it were more even. It doesn’t help that the two best teams (Penske and Ganassi) have the Chevy engines. How about we give Roger and Chip the Hondas and put everyone else in a Chevy. That would even things up. Wishful thinking.
Other fun things to note-
The piece on James Hinchcliffe was fantastic. I can’t imagine how awful the 2015 season would have been had we lost both James and Justin. I’m so incredibly grateful to the Holmatro Safety team and the wonderful doctors who cared for James. My family is excited to watch James racing again.
Graham Rahal’s car is featured on Steak ‘n Shake gift cards. Love it! They are going to be my go to gift for any and all of my gift giving. Love supporting both the drivers and the sponsors.
Long Beach is this weekend. This will be the first race I’m able to watch live and I can’t wait.
Well I’m sure there is more to say but I’m going to end here and hope to do better in the future. Thanks for reading.
