So it all comes down to the finale race of 2013 at Fontana-Again. This year it is Helio Castroneves trailing behind Scott Dixon. After being in the points lead most of the year it has to be quite frustrating for Helio to be behind. Can he win the championship? I believe he could and I hope it with all my heart but it won’t be easy. Dixon is always a strong competitor and tonight he and his team will fight with all they have. I’ll be hoping that some of that bad luck that followed Helio around at Houston will now be following Scott. Helio won’t win the championship unless Dixie is involved in an accident or just has some bad luck. He is just that good and I have a feeling that tonight won’t be any different- although I’m hoping it will be.
The biggest heartbreak tonight though will be that once this race is over we will have a five month wait till we race again. If you are like me that is a forever long time. Thanks goodness for Trackside with Curt Cavin and Kevin Lee to get us through the off season.
So tonight I will be praying that Helio wins the championship and that Dixon has some problems that keep him in the back of the pack. I will also be looking for Justin Wilson, Marco Andretti Ed Carpenter and Simona DeSilvestro to have good finishes- oh and Josef Newgarten too. With all the first time winners this year we can’t ask for much more but I would still love to add one more to that list.
It will be a good race and I will enjoy every minute until the last and then will be bummed out for a week or so that the season is over.
